Created attachment 122424 [details] Example ODS file that triggers the bug When using the VLOOKUP function in the input line of a cell, it is unable to find a match between 2 cells containing identical strings if their values contain parentheses characters. If this occurs, the function incorrectly returns "#N/A" instead of the expected value. See cell Boards.M4 in the attached file as an example.

If you need to use regular expression you can esc those characters with a backslash before them '\('.
