Fatal Error message

Happened twice within 10 days:
On saving, error message appeared: "osl::Thred::create failed".
Program exited after confirmation of error message. Re-opening file brought up recovery window, but recovery failed!
Result: ALL DATA LOST!
Auto-Backup file was not able to recover data!

Happened after updating to latest release 5.0.4.2.

To emphasise the severity of this error: I was not able to copy the data to another program for emergency-backup reasons, because I don't have a different speadsheet program.
Copying the data to a notepad was not practicable due to large data set of ~8 MB.

For the test, could you rename your LO directory profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Windows) and give a new try?
Comment 3 thoskk 2016-02-14 16:20:43 UTC
A new try will not succeed, the filesize has shrunk from orignially 8 MBytes to 7 kBytes after auto-recovery.
I already tried to open the file on another computer using _Open_Office, the spreadsheet was empty.
When I try to open the automated backup file, all I get is "general I/O error" message. This file also shrank down to 7 kB.

You must try with a backup file (one with size of 8MB).
IHMO the one with 7kb size after autorecovery is useless.
Comment 5 thoskk 2016-02-14 17:12:22 UTC
I know what file I should use, but this file does no longer exist!
The crash happened after some hours of work when hitting "save" for the approx. 10th time. Before that, saving the file worked, but the backup that was saved before that day does not contain the changes. And there are only 2 .bup-files to choose from.
Comment 6 Julien Nabet 2016-02-14 17:14:47 UTC
Since I don't have more questions, I'll put this back to UNCONFIRMED.

been having a "fatal error" on my office writer every few minutes

I'm afraid there is nothing we can do without a test file :(
With a heavy heart I close this as INSUFFICIENTDATA.
