Description Emanuel 2016-03-01 15:35:32 UTC
The 5.0.0.5 release of LO is a nightmare - at least on OS X (10.11.3). When trying to save (save as...) a LO .ods spreadsheet in the MS Excel 2003 XML format, LO instantly crashes evry time.
Comment 1 Emanuel 2016-03-02 11:27:11 UTC
by mistake i mentioned version 5.0.0.5. this severe bug exists in 5.0.5 and also 4.4.7.2
Comment 2 Joel Madero 2016-03-02 19:04:52 UTC
Version is earliest version, updating.
Comment 3 Buovjaga 2016-03-02 19:40:59 UTC
Does it also exist in 5.1?

making new user profile doesnt't help. i don't understand how to use parallel installs of LO, but i have included a crash report from the machine with OSX 10.9.5

On a brand new file with master sources updated 2 days ago, I don't reproduce this.
Could you attach some simple example file I could give a try?

@julien could you retry to repro? this is fairly easy. Imo no test file needed. Open calc in latst master on macOS and save as 2003 xml.
Comment 14 Julien Nabet 2016-10-22 07:45:46 UTC
On Mac OS 10.11.6 (El Capitan) with LO 5.2.2.2 + brand new LO profile and brand new empty ods file, I don't reproduce the crash.
Comment 15 steve 2016-10-23 20:29:14 UTC
@julien: and latest master? (as requested per comment 13 and only if you have capacity)

Test case and crash log

I was able to replicate this using an existing ods file that I had, but not with a fresh file that I just had created

Made a minimal test case out of it + crash log

Comment 17 How can I remove my account? 2018-05-17 14:26:15 UTC
FYI: In the master branch (which will become LIbreOffice 6.1) the support for the "Excel 2003 XML" format has been overhauled greatly. See https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/6.1#Improvements_to_Excel_2003_XML_import . Although that mentions import only, and in fact in a current master build "Excel 2003 XML" is not eve offered as a format to export to. I don't know if that is accidental or intentional.
Comment 18 How can I remove my account? 2018-05-17 14:35:11 UTC
That said, I can reproduce the problem in 6.0 and am looking into it.

Screenshot when using bundled (compiled from source with LO) libxml and libxslt.

When I build against the system libxml and libxslt, I get a crash, but when I build against a bundled libxml and libxslt, I get this fairly useless error message.

When I try to save the same document as "Excel 2003 XML" in a fresh LibreOffice build on Linux, I get a "General Error. General input/output error" dialog... (Not that that format is in File:Export, not File:Save As.)

So it seems that this problem is not Mac-specific after all?
Comment 22 Fred Kovach 2018-07-06 15:16:03 UTC
I am having this same issue in 6.0.3 of Calc.
Working on an .xlsx and then trying to save it as a Excel 2003 XML
It crashed the software and didn't save the file.

I can't reproduce it in

Could anyone please retry on master ?
