Steps: 1) Open Calc 2) Insert > Object > Chart from File (.uno:InsertObjectChartFromFile) 3) Change file type filter from 'All files' to 'Spreadsheet' 4) Browse to a folder with any spreadsheet files (*.ods,*.xls,*.xlsx) 5) None will be shown Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 003d0ccf902d2449320dd24119564565a384f365 CPU Threads: 2; OS Version: Linux 4.2; UI Render: default; TinderBox: Linux-rpm_deb-x86_64@70-TDF, Branch:master, Time: 2016-02-23_02:42:33 Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8)
For me when selecting Spreadsheets in the file type filter it shows: Spreadsheets (*.odc) What I think are the extension for chart files. It can be saved, while editing a chart, with save as. Win10x64 Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha0+ Build ID: 85fcf15ff41ceb95f46dee586ff7187551be4955 CPU Threads: 4; OS Version: Windows 6.19; UI Render: GL; TinderBox: Win-x86@39, Branch:master, Time: 2016-02-27_09:23:38
The second entry is title "ODF Chart" which shows *.odc files, so whats the point of 2 entries with the exact same filter.
I can confirm - value "speadsheets" and "chart" in listbox filter the same extension .odc. Cannot see the option to insert chart from file in Version: 6.2.2.2 (x64) Build ID: 2b840030fec2aae0fd2658d8d4f9548af4e3518d CPU threads: 12; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: GL; VCL: win; Locale: ru-RU (ru_RU); UI-Language: en-US Calc: CL It is absent even in Customize dialog, searching for "chart". Has it been removed, e.g. in relation to fix for tdf#93005?
.uno:InsertObjectChartFromFile was removed in commit https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/plugins/gitiles/core/+/d543e8dfd3d8ae718e29304a155e1cf70d08325d%5E%21 It's safe to say this was fixed by the feature removal in bug #93005
