Description jinesh 2016-04-05 13:58:50 UTC
Hello,
On clicking drop down for font menu causes libreoffice 5.0.5 to crash everytime.
I am using slackware current version.
This issue has been persistent since 5.0.3.
No error is being generated in syslog or messages.
Any assistance would be great help.

Thanks.

Are things more stable if you disable font previews?

Tools -> Options -> View Font Lists: "Show preview of fonts" checkbox.

If so, would help to know the OS, locale, and Desktop Environment you are using.

Yes, disabling the "Show preview of fonts" does make it stable.

Here, are the OS details
OS - Slackware current i.e latest 14.2 beta 1
Arch x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4440 CPU @ 3.10GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

Using the KDE environment
Crashed on both kde-xfce as well as default kde plasma desktop.

kernel version - 4.4.1

Thanks.

Good, and how is OpenGL behaving regards the font preview? Does OpenGL enable for your graphics card and driver--either DE (kde-xfce or kde plasma)?

You might want to check if the crashes continue with a current build of master or the 5.1 release. And if the crashes continue with later releases, ideally what we'd need is to catch a stack trace from a debug build.

Are you able to roll your own from source?

If not, you can try to use the large Linux debug builds of master/5.2.0alpha0 packaged as DEB or RPM format--but believe you'd need to convert for use on Slackware with deb2tgz or rpm2tgz. I don't drive a Slackware build, so YMMV on converting the packages.

A bt could help here (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#GNU.2FLinux:_How_to_get_a_backtrace)

Also, you can rename your LO directory profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#GNU.2FLinux), so we're sure it's not due to a bug from a previous version or an extension.

Hello all,
I managed to install LO Dev 5.1.3.0.0+ from source on slackware.
This seems to have solved the issue for me.
Should i still provide the backtrace for reference ?

Really appreciate all your help.
Thanks a lot.

I don't think so since 5.0 branch will be soon EOL.
So let's put this one to WFM.
