Description BBX 2016-04-10 12:27:09 UTC
In Writer fonts blurry. Disabling anti-aliasing does not work. This problem is in version 5.1.2.2 and earlier. In MS Word fonts look great.

@BBX : insted of putting Dropbox links please add attachments via the bug report. I doubt that any of these images are too large to be uploaded, especially not the About dialog (the text content of which can be copied an pasted directly into the reply window).

The link to the TIFF of the comparative view of Word and LibreOffice is unfortunately of insufficient resolution to make out a difference between font displays. If anything the Word display looks worse than that of LibreOffice.

I would also advise updating to the latest version of LibreOffice, as 5.1.2.2 is now quite old (in relative terms). The 5.1.x series will be End-of-Life in November 2016 and no further updates for it will be provided.

After updating to the latest version (5.1.5 or 5.2.0), please also indicate which particular fonts are a still problem (if any) in LibreOffice when compared to Word. You should provide a sample ODT document and a sample DOC/DOCX for comparison.

No repro on non-Retina/hiDPI screen with Mac Mini 2010 and OSX 10.12

See screenshot with test documents provided by original reporter.
Quite frankly, there is very little difference between the "blurry" display of the font in Writer and Word 16.

No repro for me.

Can't reproduce. No blurr here. Times new roman 14pt. Non retina imac.

Version: 5.2.1.4

Have you updated to 5.2.1.4 or later? Your last report is about 5.2.0.4.
Comment 12 Alex Thurgood 2016-09-23 08:54:18 UTC
So, three of us have now reported no repro. Closing as invalid.

@BBX : if you can show us that the fonts look blurry on your screen with the most current version of LibreOffice (take a comparative screenshot for example of both documents open in LO and Word respectively like I did), we might reopen this report, but at present you are the only one who appears to have the problem, and independent testing by QA members on hiDPI and non-hiDPI screens doesn't show the problem.
