Error text from the "E-Mails could not be sent" dialog box

Wizard fails to send via SMTP (no SSL, without the auth, standard port 25) with the following error (see attachment). "Test settings" both tests are successful.
According the server log, it does not even try to connect.

Did it work in an older version?

cazeneuve: see Bug 77354

Armands: please test with version 5.2 as well.

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.
Comment 4 Armands Liepins 2016-09-13 14:00:25 UTC
4.4.5.2 works. 5.2.1.2 even does not show steps 6-8.
Comment 5 Buovjaga 2016-09-14 17:37:02 UTC
I got some advice on IRC:

"The mailmerge.py (inside \program\ in the LibreOffice install directory) has a dbg variable on line 52: dbg = False.
Setting this to dgb = True should produce an "pymailmerge.log" on Windows and much more console output on Linux."

You could attach the .log file to this report after reproducing the problem. I guess it is produced in the program folder, but not sure.

Almost works. After initial setup of the email account, first try - nothing happens, second try - writer freezes. Had to kill writer process. After writer was relaunched, send was successful. Tested 5.2.6.2 on linux and 5.3.2.2 on windows 10. Both had described behavior.

What about the .log file?
