On a fresh install of Libre office (Fr / win 10), I don t have the "Auto spellchecking button " activated ( ABC underlined red). I think Auto spellchecking is a very important core feature and it should be visible right at the start of the soft (like it is in any office suite ;) ) For me it was obvious that the feature just didn t exist since it wasn t displayed. I can imagine a person of 60 years old for example, never finding this important feature! (ie my mother) PS: the green button that pop up the spellchecking is so old shcool ;) As I am writting this comments even firefox do a live spellchecking ... If you have a choice remove the "pop up" version and replace it with the live one. Anyway : who wants to miss spell something ? Thanks for the great work !!!
What do you mean by "visible right at the start of the soft"? Do you mean there should be some pop-up window that says "Hey, here is a cool feature"?
(In reply to Buovjaga from comment #1) > What do you mean by "visible right at the start of the soft"? Do you mean > there should be some pop-up window that says "Hey, here is a cool feature"? No popup please ! :D What I mean is that by Default, after installing Libreoffice: there is no button on the Top bar. Not button to activate the auto spell checking. No button with "ABC" underlined red. To activate this button (make it visible); you need to right click on the shortcut bar and modify the bar. I believe than many of my friends (30 year old) will not find hpow to do it.
As auto spellcheck is enabled by default, the only reason a user would need the button would be to disable auto spellchecking and in that scenario, they can find the option in the Tools menu and if they frequently turn it on and off, then they can enable it in the toolbar. Unfortunately we cant have every single function visible by default in the toolbars. @ux-advise: anyone else have a take on this?
(In reply to Yousuf (Jay) Philips from comment #3) > @ux-advise: anyone else have a take on this? +1 for keeping the toolbar clean
To quote Jay from comment 3 "we cant have every single function visible by default in the toolbars" modal setting of spellcheck makes it a pretty obvious Wontfix. Someone motivated enough to need to turn it on and off will locate the provided toolbar customization.
