Thanks for the bug report and the example.

This is a regression, reproduced in 4.0.0.3, but works in 3.6.0.4 (OS: Windows 7).
I wonder if bug 96521 is related.

As per today, this regression can't be bibisected as it was introduced before 4.4 branch and there's no bibisect repository for the affected branch, thus change 'bibisectRequest' to 'preBibisect'

Confirmed on linux as well, so bibisectable.
