Created attachment 124957 [details] picture of headings in navigation panel I have 4 levels of heading As you can see there is a 3.8 3.8.1 xxxx 3.8.2 xxxx 3.8.2.1 xxxx 3.8.2.2 xxxx 3.8.2.3 xxxx now what should be next is 3.8.3 but instead it is 3.8.1 I have tried continue renumbering but it wont change. If I delete all of 3.8.2 then what should have been 3.8.3 becomes 3.8.2 but as soon as I paste the 3.8.2 back in- it messes up. Note workaround used to work but will not now.
Please attach example file so testers don't have to work too much. Set to NEEDINFO. Change back to UNCONFIRMED after you have provided the document.
Created attachment 125037 [details] example file showing issue since can't upload original file , I trimmed down to the minimum needed to show issue and uploaded that. thanks
Confirmed. Should be 1.2.3, but is 1.2.1. Arch Linux 64-bit, KDE Plasma 5 Version: 5.2.0.0.alpha1+ Build ID: 412cfb531bd137c3d01f21e24b12827ddb9b8b7b CPU Threads: 8; OS Version: Linux 4.5; UI Render: default; Locale: fi-FI (fi_FI.UTF-8) Built on Friday 13th 2016
Hi, I don't think this is a LibreOffice issue. If you turn on Edit > Trach changes > Show changes, the problem disappears. (In a recent daily build) Can someone confirm this please?
or then the problem is at a different paragraph: 2.2.1 twice.. But it looks a bit messed up formatting and result of promote/demote actions? In any case it origins from a Microsoft file and settings. Simply said: the document is corrupt :) Not a bug, invalid, not our bug.. ?
Thanks for the quick analysis....not sure i agree with the assessment though. This document was originally a word doc. a year or 2 ago, I switched to LibreOffice. Based on your show changes info ....I took the example and accepted all changes (under track changes) and the issue still exists. In general I don't send out docs with show changes so thats not a good option. If the file is corrupt....why doesn't Libre Writer complain at all about the file. I thought it was designed to read Microsoft Word files (note this was 18 months ago).. Like I said I cut out sections and then it looks right, but then I paste back in that sections and its messed up.... do i have to return entire sections of the document to make it work? This is a 200 page document
I meant to say rewrite .....
I deleted entire section preceding it, copied to notepad++ and then pastes back in and recreated headings and was able to resolve issue. I did hit the issue that when I told it too continue previous renumbering that it picked up the un-numbered list in paragraph prior instead of the proper h4 heading. I cut the list and was able to get correct H4 numbering and then paste back in un-numbered list.
Hi Tim, (In reply to Tim OCallaghan from comment #8) > I deleted entire section preceding it, copied to notepad++ > and then pastes back in and recreated headings and was able to resolve issue. > I did hit the issue that when I told it too continue previous renumbering > that it picked up the un-numbered list in paragraph prior instead of the > proper h4 heading. > I cut the list and was able to get correct H4 numbering and then paste back > in un-numbered list. Thanks for your explanation and glad that you indeed was able to fix this. A sad thing it happened in the first place of course.. From your description, I get the impression that you do not use Tools > Outline Numbering to set the headings? It's a more convenient way Writer offers this. Fits for most use, but when you have e.g. separate outline in a second part of the report, you need to set the properties per heading in any case. Is it OK for you to resolve this issue as WorksForMe or NotOurBug?
