Calc doesn't the font size of the cell, and thus the cell height. It is true that it was an inconsistency, given that the font live-updated while hovering. "Was", because it used to be the case until d7a271c08fe072b35cf759aef417bbe23ffc96b4. See bug 158320. In any case, the general issue of "live preview" (including for Calc font size) has mainly been aggregated into bug 37048, so I am marking as a duplicate.
