The shortcut for grouping [F12] or ungrouping [Ctrl+F12] can be used also from the Pivot table cells.

Move Pivot table field between row-fields and columns fields can be done also without enter on Edit layout by dragging the head fields on the sheet.

In any case having the option for grouping inside the Edit layout would be nice, while at the same time the option would be more visible. Or a least added to the pivot table context menu.

If we talk about applying Data > Group & Outline > Group (.uno:Group) to a pivot table, I can click it but no grouping happens.

The problem here was: I couldn't create the filter with a grouping by month/years without going by some strange way.

For example you have the source cell range with

Date Name Values
12-12-21 Ivan 100
13-12-21 Ivan 200

etc.

And you want filter your pivot table by month/year. Your actions here? Just move Date field to Filters area in Pivot table layout dialog, right? Of course! But when you'll try use that filter you'll see all dates day-by-day in filter window instead grouped dates.

There is a workaround here. Move Date field to Row fields area and close the dialog. Right click on any cell with date in the pivot table and press F12 key. It opens the Grouping dialog where you'll can select Group by. Select there Months and Years and press OK button. Open the Pivot table layout dialog. Move Years and Date field from Row fields area to Filters. Now, you can filter by years and by months =(.

I wanted to have an opportunity do the same with one action -> opening the Grouping dialog for date without any moving of fields in the Pivot table layout dialog

Seems grouping works but on a per cell selection not the column. Anyway, is this article the solution you are looking for? If not, please provide a step-by-step description of what you do and what you expect.
