Description Gyorgy Zold 2011-07-27 10:27:58 UTC
Whenever making a copy+paste of an area of cells with data, it freezes (90% of cases ) the complet OS.

Only escape is the Power Off/On button...

Same issue I have with the LibO 3.4.1 /64.

The system will not react any more to any of the input devices : no poiter, no keybord. In the meat time there is no HD activity...

Addition to above :
-( unfortunately ) This is not specific to a certain file but to any spreasheet

- after such power off/on, at restarting LO, it starts recovery.
It happened more times, that initial file was not recoverable ( it appeared to have 0...1,5 kB, instead of a few hundreds of kB )...

Experience nr.2:
- after a coloumn copy/paste + save was freezing again.
- I left the laptop for about 15 minutes.
- by my return , it was operational

Following to the above, I did not tested further, but switched off and booted in to W7 + LO 3.3.

Since than running w/o any issues. (  That is an issue !! - > W7+LO = troubleless, why Ubi+LO => with troubles )

Looking forward to see, if is there a ( any ) good solution.
Thanks in advance to all.

Failed to reproduce on LibreOffice 3.4 340m1(Build:103) for OpenSuse Linux, /64. I have copied and pasted several cells across each other. Seems to be no problem. Perhaps a distribution problem?

Thanks for the attachments.

You might be right:

a/ I am using a dual Laptop ( w7 + Ubi 11.04 )
on w7, it runs smoothly, error free, while on Ubi 11.04, it produces the phenomena( freeze +crash ) .

b/ the issue is not related to a certain file : since I am working with several files ( which were originated much before U. 11.04, and exploited errorless ),
with the actual distro, I have troubles with more of them.

c/ I have the (not proved ) feeling, as this issue is somehow in relation w/ other known one : the long delay in reactions between a command an its processing...

However : is annoying.

I am wondering,
I. where shall this be reported to be fixed ?
II. Am I alone w/ this ?

Thanks for the feed-back and your time.

BR/MfG

NOT Reproduced with:

LO 3.4.2 OOO340m1 (Build:202)
Ubuntu 10.04.3 x86
Linux 2.6.32-33-generic Russian UI

Gyorgy Zold, I think you should report it to Launchpad.

Till 10.10, I did not encountered this issue either.
Since 11.04, I did a double switch :
- laptop /32 bit processor /lenovo t41  -> 64 bit /i7 processor / lenovo t520
- OS 32 bit/ 10.10 -> OS 64 bit 11.04

Please create a bug report at launchpad since this seems to be a distro specific bug. I mark it as NOTOURBUG,

Might be caused by some of the ubuntu patches
