Description Rainer Bielefeld Retired 2011-11-21 01:37:05 UTC
Currently I get logged out every few minutes, actions or whatever. Same with FF and Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20110928 Firefox/7.0.1 SeaMonkey/2.4.1
Comment 1 Florian Effenberger 2011-11-21 01:42:05 UTC
Can anyone confirm? The timeout should be 30 or even 60 minutes, IIRC.
Comment 2 Cor Nouws 2011-11-21 02:03:08 UTC
Hi,

I had this last weekend, and IIRC (...) once before too.

I was working on different pages, logged in on one, started editing mode, switched to another, opened already before logg in, or did some with uploading files...

Not sure what happened exactly

The problem might be that currently, the wiki only stores the session for HTTPS (I already told Manuel about that). Can you check if you are maybe opening a non-HTTPS page when the problem occurs, e.g. via an external link?
Comment 4 Volker Merschmann 2011-11-21 02:21:39 UTC
I can confirm this.
If I log in through https and navigating from page to page everthing is fine.
But as soon as I am hitting one of my non-https bookmarks to have a look at my favourite logs I am logged out again.

I'm pretty sure that it's the HTTPS thingy. Since I modified my old bookmarks it seems that the problem has vanished. If that will be confirmed, for me that seems to be a minor problem, may be it's enough to have a banner for 1-2 weeks "please modify your old bookmarks"?
Comment 6 Florian Effenberger 2011-11-21 04:22:46 UTC
No, that's the wrong approach. :)
Previously, we used the httpsLogin extension, that kept the session for both protocols, and only used HTTPS for password transfers.
I already asked Manuel to reinstall it in the new wiki instance.

Switching all URLs to HTTPS in the bookmarks causes lots of additional server load we should avoid.

Confirm this.

Not sure if it's related to http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Logging_in#Log_in_problems but I don't think so ;)
Comment 8 Korrawit Pruegsanusak 2011-11-22 22:34:43 UTC
IMHO we already know the reason => edit subject according to discussion
Comment 9 Korrawit Pruegsanusak 2011-12-07 04:00:07 UTC
Seems fixed. Thanks!

I think this is WONTFIX now, see http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/website/msg07337.html
