excel spreadsheet that exhibits macro problem
Attached is a ms excel spreadsheet that presents errors when opening the document due to the macro. The error is... "BASIC syntax error - symbol [a100] already defined differently." I did not author the macro but I know that it does in fact work in excel.
Still exists in 3.5.0-release
I need to mark this as NEEDINFO.
Are you saying "It does in fact work in Microsoft Excel" or are you saying "I know that it does in fact work in LibreOffice Calc/Spreadsheet".
If this is an Excel macro, it won't necessarily (almost never) work in LibreOffice Calc/Spreadsheet.
If you are saying it does/did work in our product or OOo (openoffice), then please reopen this and provide a comment letting us know that Excel actually means Calc/Spreadsheet.
Thanks for your patience and help
I am saying "It does in fact work in Microsoft Excel". I was under the impression that there was an effort to provide Excel macro compatibility so I reported it. If this is not the case I won't report any Excel macro compatibility issues anymore. Please advise.
Unfortunately we are not currently doing much with this. VBA and Basic don't play nice together. In the LONG LONG run, we may, but it's not in the immediate plans.
What I'm going to do is mark this as an enhancement request with lowest priority specifically because we acknowledge that VBA doesn't play nice with LibO at all and not a ton of users use macros (only relatively advanced users do).
As our team grows we do hope to implement compatibility but as of now, I can admit that it's unlikely this will be added any time soon.
I've spoken with several other QA members as well as a couple developers about this and you can continue providing bug reports against Excel macros but know that they will be enhancement requests and currently our team is much too small to implement cross compatibility for VBA
Please don't update the Version number, that number is the first version that it was seen as a bug/enhancement request, not the latest version that it has been tested on. many thanks
