I found a document having a very similar text at

http://cnnetc.googlecode.com/files/RESPONSE%20TO%20IMPROPER%20BILLING%20AFTER%20PAYMENT.doc

but it is working on my LibreOffice 3.5.3 installation. Please check which version you are using and provide the exact document (or at least the first page with obfuscated text) of the document that is causing the trouble.

the document in previous comment has wrong display (as in bug desc.) with LibO 3.6.3.0 Linux x86 (text is rotated 90° counterclock)

When open attached doc in Writer, appears extra vertical text on left.
Reproduced in 3.3.4, 3.5.5, 3.6.2 on Fedora 64 bit
IMHO it is because doc has frame placed outside of page

Changing version to 3.3.4 as most early reproduced

Problem still exists.

document from comment 3 minimized and text seen

Since reported didn't attach a requested file, I obsoleted that discussion and this bug is about attachment from Comment 5.

This "Copyright..." is in 4 places, very strange:
- white on white but regular text in header, opens in LO
- text box upper right corner, 0,32 cm x 0,42 cm
- text box up down 0,32 cm x 0,21 cm
- text box left in front of text, height 23,18 cm and width 0,21 cm, -2,72 cm right to Column and -0,63 cm below Paragraph, that's open as frame in LO height 23,18 cm and width 0,21 cm, -2,54 cm to Paragraph and -0,63 cm to Margin

Title "Vertical Text by the side of pages all wrong." is not clear so I rename to "Fileopen: large text from small DOC text box, that is partially or not seen in Word, shown all in Writer".

RESPONSE TO IMPROPER BILLING AFTER PAYMENT2.doc: highlighting areas noted in comment 13 where the copyright message exists

This seems to be an inherit difference with how LO handles draw shapes. If the text does not fit inside of the shape, it just spills out all over the place - which is what we see with the rotated text on the left.
The text in the extreme top and bottom right is imported as a frame - where the text does not spill out.
Comment 18 Justin L 2019-08-15 13:31:00 UTC
Because the text direction is bottom to top (nPropVal == mso_txflBtoT),
//Writer can now handle vertical textflows in its
//native frames
//Writer will handle all textflow except BtoT
so we cannot do aInfo.bReplaceByFly  = true;

Therefore, it does not try to ConvertDrawTextToFly, but instead it MungeTextIntoDrawBox.
Comment 19 Justin L 2019-08-15 15:06:25 UTC
UI Bottom to Top support was recently added to LO 6.3 with
commit 52e47276694575f119192f6ddafa69ec7a7eb6b4

btlr is Miklos' favourite project right now. I'm very happy to leave this for him to work on.

Dear Udit Mahajan,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!
