Will test on 3.5.5 RC2 and get back to you.

Works for me on :

LO 3.5.5 RC2
LO 3.5.4

but you MUST HAVE a Java JDK/JRE installed, or else it will fail and LO will shut down.

My guess is that you don't have a JDK/JRE installed, or if you do, it is not recognised by LO.

Closing as worksforme.

I have 2 Java runtime environments,

Sun Microsystem 1.6.0.24
Oracle Corporation 1.7.0.03

Location /usr/lib/jvm/java-7-openjdk-i386/jre

Which one(s) are registered with LO ?

Oh, and please specify which Linux/BSD version you are using, that will help us to narrow down the problem. I tested on Mac OSX 10.7.4, I can only test on a Linux version later today/tomorrow.

Thanks,

Hmm,

You're not trying to load this file from a NFS or SMB share by any chance ?

Comment 6 Badita Florin 2012-07-04 07:38:50 UTC
First time i tried from share, and it give me the same error.

but i copied the local hard disk and still the same error.

Ubuntu 12.04

Linux vivi 3.2.0-26-generic-pae #41-Ubuntu SMP Thu Jun 14 16:45:14 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Now i set it to Oracle Corporation 1.7.0.03
But i tried with both and the same error.

In terminal

badita@vivi:~$ java -version
java version "1.6.0_24"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.11.1) (6b24-1.11.1-4ubuntu3)
OpenJDK Server VM (build 20.0-b12, mixed mode)

Don`t know what else to show that can be relevant

Are you using the Ubuntu provided LibreOffice or the "official" version (as in untainted by the distro provider) ?

If you are using the Ubuntu provided version of LibreOffice, you should consider opening a bug report with Ubuntu, as it may be specific to their packaging.

I will try later on Linux Mint 64bit and Ubuntu Pangolin to see if I can reproduce.

So, this shows me that your path Java variable is set to use OpenJDK (1.6.024), which is not the Oracle 1.7 version.

What does Tools > Options > General > Java show in LibreOffice ?

Just a thought : you do have the libreoffice database package installed, don't you ?

What size is the file that you copied to your local hard disk ? Is it the same size as your remote disk file ?

The general I/O error that you reported originally is a known "problem" of NFS locking on mounted remote shares (e.g. NAS disks). You have to change the NFS mount and locking options to avoid that particular problem.

However, if it still fails with the same error, there must be some other underlying problem, e.g. the file on your local disk isn't read/write accessible, or is corrupt. In any case, the file you uploaded to the bug report opens just fine for me on Mac OSX, which is why I am asking you all of these questions.

OK, so I tried this in 3.4.4 Linux Mint 13 64bit, with the distro provided version and could not reproduce the crash. When I select the codepage, the file opens fine.

Will try with 3.5.5 RC2 to see if any difference.

Tested on :
Linux Mint 13 - 64bit

LibreOffice 3.5.5.2
Build ID: 24b32b4-b87ec2e-85c8e98-87a4e20-9a1b8c1

Can not reproduce the problem, the file opens fine for me if I choose a random codepage.

So there is something specific about your setup that is causing the problem.

Badita,

Have you tried deleting/renaming your LO user profile and restarting LO ?
If you upgraded from 3.4.x to 3.5.x, then there is a good chance that the user profile migration did not work completely.

I will be closing this as WFM unless someone else comes along and reproduces, or you can bring more useful information to the report (try running gdb with your soffice process, for example).

Tested also on LO 3.5.4 32bit with Ubuntu Precise Pangolin. Can not reproduce error, the dbf file opens fine.

Closing as WFM.
