Few screenshots of issue

Hi

New widget layout uses only one row of tabs in Modify style window, which causes this window pretty wide and creates too much white space in most of tabs. Perhaps going back to two rows of tabs (if this is possible) will create better looking dialogs.

I am attaching image with screenshots; on left there is LO 3.6.4-rc1 on Linux (KDE), on right - LO 4.0.0-alpha1 on Windows 7. Especially Position tab looks horrible - it is totally unbalanced, with cramped controls in upper left and too much white space on right side of dialog.
In font, selection lists are too wide - especially middle one contains mainly white space.

I know that new UI is work in progress and this is only first alpha, but still - these dialogs are simply unpleasant.

I don't get this problem in 4.1 master (9be06943013547b0e0d74bf5c98f3146584ae84).
I assume it is in 4.0. Is it fixed for you?
Is it a Windows only problem?

This should have been fixed with http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=c5f401ed8991985c3f6701fdaf5f9ee53429fdb0 but I fixed that in October and this was reported in November against 4.0.0 alpha 1. Can I get the build id from help about ?

Posiotion tab from LO 4.0beta

leighman: right now I can't check it on any OS other than Windows, so I don't know if this is OS-specific bug.

Caolán McNamara: sorry I did not post build ID. It was obviously my fault. Anyway, I have checked three different builds. There are results:

- Version 4.0.0.0.alpha1 (Build ID: dec8fe) - one row of tabs
- Version 4.0.0.0.beta1+ (Build ID: 9604cbdb015ec4724f0c7eb1120fc02d5b65d93) - two rows of tabs
- Version 4.1.0.0.alpha0+ (Build ID: 9be06943013547b0e0d74bf5c98f3146584ae84) - two rows of tabs

But please take a look at attached screenshot (this is from 4.0 beta): although two rows of tabs created lesser space on the right side of dialog, all options are still crowded in upper left corner. 3.6 (see previous attachment) was more balanced and looked simply better.

Reported fixed in 4.0 beta.
The spacing issue should be fixed by http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?h=libreoffice-4-0&id=0bbbdaf1999dd1279b39bceb43ed0a9e2450925f pushed yesterday. Please feel free to file a further bug and CC me if it is not fixed in the next daily build.
