Problem description:

I have a spreadsheet for making a HUD Settlement Statement which I've used for at least 5yrs. I don't use this spreadsheet often, but I think the problem arose when upgrading from 3.5.3 to 3.6.x

We need the original document or some document where we can observe the problem.

Marking as NEEDINFO, please get us a document that clearly displays the behavior after saving.

Once you attach document marked as UNCONFIRMED and we will try to triage it. Thanks!

Example ods documents showing problem

Here are two spreadsheets in a zipfile.
The "original.ods" used to work just fine.
Now, as soon as I make any changes to it and then save,
upon re-opening it's all screwed up.

I've gone ahead and opened "original.ods"
then changed the Settlement Agent field to "Jane Doe"
and saved as "modified.ods"

Opening the "modified.ods" shows it's now screwed up.

Hey Jeremy - I will check this but in the future please read the instructions carefully:

"Once you attach document marked as UNCONFIRMED and we will try to triage it. Thanks!"

In NEEDINFO status - QA ignores the bug, assuming it still needs input from reporter, I luckily caught this in a flood of email I get so will triage it. Thanks for the additional info

@Jeremy - please upgrade to latest stable (preferably 4.0 series as 3.6 is coming quickly to EOL).

I tested on 4.0.3.3 release as well as 4.2 master and I had no problem at all.

Marking as WFM - if you test on the latest stable release and get same results please set bug to UNCONFIRMED and let us know what version you tested on.

Also, what distribution are you using and how are you installing LibreOffice?
Comment 5 jeremy 2013-05-29 20:25:09 UTC
OK, I will try the 4.0 series.
I run Gentoo linux and there are two packages for libreoffice,
a pre-compiled, stable release libreoffice-bin:

app-office/libreoffice-bin
     Available versions:  3.6.4.3^st 3.6.6.2^st {aqua +cups debug gnome java kde ELIBC="FreeBSD"}
Installed versions: 3.6.4.3^st(11:21:41 AM 01/10/2013)(cups java kde -aqua -debug -gnome ELIBC="-FreeBSD")
     Homepage: http://www.libreoffice.org
Description: LibreOffice, a full office productivity suite. Binary package.

And there's a version which must be compiled which usually takes a lot of memory/disk space/time so I usually don't bother and just use the pre-compiled release. I'll try out 4.0.3.3 and let you know if that solves the problem.

OK, I installed the Gentoo version of libreoffice which needs to be compiled.
I installed version 4.0.3.3

It took about 6 hours to compile on my old dual core cpu:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+

But UPGRADING from 3.0 series to 4.0 series FIXED the issue for me too!
Now I just need to replace the pre-compiled libreoffice-bin-3.0 with
libreoffice-4.0.3.3 on my octo core cpu which hopefully won't take 6 hrs.

THANKS for looking into this bug -- I really didn't want to have to re-write spreadsheets.
