There is a popular Turkish spell checker extension written in Java. However, when installed with 64 bits Java 7, it slows down Libre Office badly, it becomes unusable. Here is the link for the extension for testing: http://code.google.com/p/zemberek/downloads/detail?name=zemberek-ooo-1.0_rc4.oxt&can=2&q=#makechanges It works ok with 64 bit java 1.6 Version info: Libre Office: Version 3.6.2.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:2)) OS: Ubuntu Linux 12.10 java version "1.7.0_09" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea7 2.3.4) (7u9-2.3.4-0ubuntu1.12.10.1) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.2-b09, mixed mode) Other people tried this with other Linux distributions and same thing happened. Ps: When I was entering the bug, I mistakenly hit enter and it created an empty bug report, apologies for that.
(In reply to comment #0) I can reproduce it also with 32bit versions. The last working relase is 3.5.4(reported ubuntu 12.04) with Openjdk 1.6 with following packages installed: ca-certificates-java (20110912ubuntu6) default-jre (1:1.6-43ubuntu2) default-jre-headless (1:1.6-43ubuntu2) icedtea-6-jre-cacao (6b24-1.11.5-0ubuntu1~12.04.1) icedtea-6-jre-jamvm (6b24-1.11.5-0ubuntu1~12.04.1) icedtea-netx (1.2-2ubuntu1.3) icedtea-netx-common (1.2-2ubuntu1.3) java-common (0.43ubuntu2) libatk-wrapper-java (0.30.4-0ubuntu2) libatk-wrapper-java-jni (0.30.4-0ubuntu2) libreoffice-java-common (1:3.5.4-0ubuntu1.1) libreoffice-zemberek (1.0~rc2-10.3ubuntu1) libxerces2-java (2.11.0-4) libxml-commons-external-java (1.4.01-2) libxml-commons-resolver1.1-java (1.2-7) libzemberek-java (2.1.1-8) libzemberek-tr-java (2.1.1-8) openjdk-6-jre (6b24-1.11.5-0ubuntu1~12.04.1) openjdk-6-jre-headless (6b24-1.11.5-0ubuntu1~12.04.1) openjdk-6-jre-lib (6b24-1.11.5-0ubuntu1~12.04.1) ttf-dejavu-extra (2.33-2ubuntu1) tzdata-java (2012e-0ubuntu0.12.04.1) With Java 1.7 12.04 has the same issue. We think that it is something about a change in 3.5.x and 3.6.x series regarding to something about Java and need assitance as currently we cannot use the Zemberek Spell Checker in any Linux distro which have this new released of Java and LO.

I don't know if the problem is still there but could the problem be in the extension? (and so the status would be NOTOURBUG)
** Please read this message in its entirety before responding ** To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year. There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present. If you have time, please do the following: Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (5.0.0.5 or later) https://www.libreoffice.org/download/ If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System Please DO NOT Update the version field Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker) Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case) If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo"; 4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add "regression" to keyword Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=libreoffice-qa Thank you for your help! -- The LibreOffice QA Team This NEW Message was generated on: 2015-09-03
Zemberek-NLP has been abandoned by its author and no new release of the extension since 2013 Jan. Here is an up-to-date spellchecker: http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/turkish-spellcheck-dictionary Closing as notourbug.
