Indonesian Language Spelling Dictionary Extension

I submitted a Question to Ask Libre Office:
http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/12114/indonesian-spell-check-oxt-not-working-in-lo-40/
When I upgraded from LOv3.6 to v4.0.0.3, and reinstalled the Indonesian spelling dictionary, I noticed it registers and LO says it now has the ability to spell check Indonesian, but it doesn't work.

I have verified that LO does properly spell check while typing English, but it won't do Indonesian, neither while typing nor through the Tools Spell Checking option.

(I'm using Windows 8 Pro)

That Indonesian dictionary is a ZIP file that was apparently used by a much earlier form of Open Office. It has not been upgraded since 2009.

The id.oxt extension I have just attached contains the Indonesian Spelling Dictionary for later versions of LibreOffice, and it worked just fine until I upgraded to LibreOffice v4.0.0.3.

This problem is NOT resolved.

Screen shot of the spell checking dialog

Attached is a screen shot showing what happens when I spell check text that is in Indonesian (says so in LO's status bar).

Notice that the "Text Language" box is BLANK, and there is NO OPPORTUNITY to tell the spell checker to check with the Indonesian language. Instead the dialog immediately pops up the "Completed" dialog on top.

NOTE: I am also seeing that LOv4 is NOT automatically changing the current text's language to match the KEYBOARD language from the OS.

In Windows, I've set up two typing languages: English and Indonesian (both use the US keyboard).

Before upgrading to LOv4, and still in Windows 7, when I toggled between these two languages, the text langauge specified in the LOv3.6 status bar would switch to match this.

But now in Windows 8, LOv4003 is NOT responding to this toggling input from the OS.

What should happen is when I change the input/keyboarding language in Windows, LO would see this and immediately change the typing language for new input from the keyboard.

(Note: Microsoft Office 2007 does automatically follow my toggling the Windows keyboarding language, so it is NOT a Windows 8 bug.)

Any help would be appreciated.

Confirmed (on WinXP 32b).

The attached "Indonesian Language Spelling Dictionary Extension" (id.oxt)
works fine with LO 3.6.5.2.

(See also the attached screenshot id_3652 – Tools → Options → Language Settings → Writing Aids → Available language modules → Edit... → Indonesian)

But
☑ Hunspell Spellchecker
☑ Libhyphen Hyphenator
are not available in LO 4.0.1.1 rc (with the same extension).

(See also the attached screenshot id_4011 — Tools → Options → Language Settings → Writing Aids → Available language modules → Edit... → Indonesian)

Comment 10 Urmas 2013-11-11 08:43:18 UTC
You can patch that extension manually, by replacing the value of 'prop oor:name="Locales"' from "id" to "id-ID" in 'dictionaries.xcu' file.

I tried Urmas's patch with LO 4.1.5.3 under Xubuntu 12.04

Downloaded and unpacked id.oxt

replaced <value>id</value> by <value>id-ID</value> in 'dictionaries.xcu' file
repacked the extension, installed it and restarted LO ( even restarted the machine ) but without result.

Did anyone tried the patch with some succes ?
Thanks

My bad, it works. <value>id</value> need to replaced twice by <value>id-ID</value> in the 'dictionaries.xcu' file, once line 13 and again line 24

** Please read this message in its entirety before responding **

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present on a currently supported version of LibreOffice (4.4.3 or later)
   https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the version of LibreOffice and your operating system, and any changes you see in the bug behavior

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a short comment that includes your version of LibreOffice and Operating System

Please DO NOT

   Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3)

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results;
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to "inherited from OOo";
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add "regression" to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=libreoffice-qa

Thank you for your help!

Just installed Version: 4.4.3.2 on Xubuntu 14.10 using LibreOffice_4.4.3_Linux_x86_deb.tar.gz.torrent, then downloaded the latest version of the extension ( http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/indonesian-dictionary-kamus-indonesia-by-benitius/releases/2.0 ) an installed it.
changed the settings in menu Tools>Options>Language Settings>Languages then set
- Locale setting : Indonesian
- Default Languages for Documents
  Western : Indonesian
 Clicked OK
Restarted Writer

Copied/Pasted some text in Indonesian which correctly spelled words as well as wrongly spelled ones, behavior as expected.
