Afterwards a no more working Math 3.6 remains in the Büro menu and the Wissenschaft menu (do't know what they are in the English version, guess office an science). Installation of language pack works, LO is usable (just Writer tested). Help pack also can't be installed, dependency issues: dpkg: Abhängigkeitsprobleme verhindern Konfiguration von libobasis4.0-de-help: libobasis4.0-de-help hängt ab von libobasis4.0-de; aber: Paket libobasis4.0-de ist nicht installiert. dpkg: Fehler beim Bearbeiten von libobasis4.0-de-help (--install): Abhängigkeitsprobleme - verbleibt unkonfiguriert Fehler traten auf beim Bearbeiten von: libobasis4.0-de-help Steps to reproduce: 1. re-install shared-mime-info (if this isn't done also re-install LO 3.6.5 fails) 2. re-install LO 3.6.5 3. Upgrade to LO 4 Current behavior: Remainder from LO 3.6 in menu, no help pack Expected behavior: Clean LO 4 menu, help pack successfully installed. BTW: the same upgrade worked fine on a different PC with 32 bit Squeeze and same boundary conditions. Regards, Rolf Heinrichs Operating System: Debian Version: 4.0.0.3 release Last worked in: 3.6.5.2 release
How did you make installation? Using dpkg? The best way to install a new major version on Linux is to remove the old one first... On Ubuntu, I have the same error or warning messages during desktop integration, but without visible further drawback. Best regards. JBF
Hello JBF, LO4 is working now. Yes I used the recommended procedure with dpkg. Looks like my installation had several remainders of previous LO installations like 3.3, 3.4 and 3.6. An apt-get purge cleaned off enough to make the desktop integration installer work. As a last thing I had to remove an Math 3.6 entry with the menu editor. Since then I can work with LO4. Maybe its a good idea to describe the apt-get purge procedure in the manual.
