Description bugquestcontri 2013-03-05 01:33:53 UTC
Problem description:
Most if not all animation scheme have 3 and more parameters to select. I will mention here only 4
- Start
- Direction
- Speed
- Text animation
and as Custom Animation I will use Wipe

All of the above-mentioned parameters have default settings
- Start: On Click
- Direction: from bottom
- Speed: very fast
- Text animation: from the lowest level paragraph

Just create a bullet list in Impress and use Custom Animation: Wipe and you will see.

For everybody who wants to use different settings productivity is going down a lot because for item in a customized animation all of these parameters must be adjusted.

Solution and request:
Make all the parameters setting customizable for each user.

Spin-Off: Impress would have a feature MS PowerPoint does not have.

Linked to this request are:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=57186
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60466
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=41572 (from Oct 2011)

I regard Impress as a great component of LibO Component but a few things need to be improved.

I am willing to test if a the test version can be installed parallel to my production version.

Operating System: Windows XP
Version: 3.6.5.2 release

Most users are probably happy with selecting from a list of various canned effects (which can be adjusted, amended, and extended e.g. via extension). I would think sticking more directly-visible options to the custom animation pane makes it more confusing to the average user.

So for this to be actionable, we would need UX input (and also whether not at the core of your problem is that animations cannot be easily copied, don't work on master slides etc etc).

Marking as enhancement.
