On Windows 8 ... installation stops with a message that some files cannot be updated as they are open (? not sure of the exact message). Avira (ant-virus) is said to be holding(?) the files. I stopped real-time protection with Avira and retried ... no better. Selecting "ignore" allowed installation to continue - and seems to be OK - but how do I know?
Anti-virus software in general should be switched into install mode while installing, therefore I will mark it as RESOLVED NOTABUG. Do not hesitate to reopen in case of mistriage.
I've just run into the same problem. Trying to install LibreOffice 4.1.0.4 on Windows 7 Running Avira Antivir The only option Avira has is to pause the real-time protection, but that did not help. I could not find a "switch to installation mode" function anywhere. I do not even have permissions to kill the avira process, although I'm a local admin and this machine is not part of a domain.
This is not Antivir blocking the installation, but Antivir using a file (probably a dll) that the installer wants to replace. Opposed to Linux based systems, using Windows it is not possible to replace a file while it is opened by an application. It would help to know the file in question and send a report to Avira.
Created attachment 92414 [details] ProcessExplorer DLL dump for Avira avguard Shows dlls used by an Avira AV process which LibreOffice install claims is responsible for preventing installation. Sorted on vendor name.
Sorry, thought I was attaching to a comment, which was... I've just rebuilt a W7 64bit system from the ground up, and Avira went in early, followed by another 39 packages, including MS Office. There was only any complaint when I came to LibreOffice. Yes, I know there's no general problem with W7 64bit as I have LibreOffice on other systems, but still it's strange that there should be a problem here. Why should LibreOffice be seeking to replace a Microsoft DLL in System32 or SysWOW64 on a fully patched system ? Avira seems to be trying to play nice - all it's non Microsoft dlls are local.
Closing this again - we have a whole list of reports about different anti-virus programs - report your issues with those software providers. We can't do anything about their false positives. Please don't open this bug again. Thank you.
