Problem description: 

Steps to reproduce:
1. Format as Date 'TT.MMM'
2. type in '31.7' an press Enter
3. It will Displayd as '31.7' an not '31.Jul'

Workaround: Typ in '31.7.' then Disp '31.Jul'


Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.1.0.4 release
Last worked in: 3.5 all versions

Hi sigi, thanks for reporting.
I think it is not a bug, there is an option for date acceptance patterns.
Tools-Options-Language Settings-Languages in field Date accetpance patterns
