Description genaro 2014-02-26 22:39:14 UTC
Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. .... I format some parts with system font "vbNtcIPA"
2. .... I can work then I save and close my file. Everything seems ok.
3. .... But when I re-open that font changed to "Arial" font

Current behavior: my font changed when I re-open my file

Expected behavior: keep the font and format I use in my file

Operating System: Windows 8
Version: 4.2.1.1 release

I’ve never heard about a system font called vbNtcIPA... Is it a bitmap font? Are you sure it came preinstalled in your copy of Windows?
Comment 2 genaro 2014-02-27 01:59:49 UTC
vbNtcIPA Its a truetype.

When i said it was in system fonts I mean its properly installed in the Windows system. Right now Im working with it fine in Openoffice and Worpad, I said that to inform is not a problem with the whole system its only with last update Libreoffice.

No that didnt come original with Windows 8 system. That font is a version of International Phonetic Alphabet and it comes originally with the istallation of an english dictionary NTCs. In last versions of Libreoffice it was working fine but with the last update no.

genaro: could you provide a link to download this font (if it's free)? Google search of it just gives links to this bug.

On pc Debian x86-64 with 4.2 sources updated some days, I don't reproduce this.

I created an ods and an odt file from scratch, put a word by using this font + size 16, save, reopen, everything is ok.

Genaro: for the test, could you give a try to 4.2.2?

Also, attachments are public by default. I don't know how to remove them, perhaps contact bugzilla admin.
Comment 7 genaro 2014-03-15 17:19:06 UTC
4.2.2 is in fact the version that made this error, I try again in Windows 8 and Ubuntu with the last Libreoffice versions and error continues, you are not reproducing well the error environment. I will use Openoffice insted. thanks
Comment 8 Julien Nabet 2014-03-15 17:45:53 UTC
Just for the record, I gave a try on Win7 with 4.1.5 (it's not my pc so I let 4.1.5 for the moment) and no problem.

A thing you can also try, rename your LO directory profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Windows) and test again.

example with the font fail

In windows 8 you'll be able to open once the file and appear ok but if you change something in and save and reopen the font will be changed to arial or other. In Ubuntu environment you'll not be able to see it properly since the first time you'll open. If you try Openoffice you'll find is working fine there I said that only for bug solution reasons.
Comment 10 genaro 2014-03-15 18:09:34 UTC
error is in 4.2.2 not in older versions, in early libreoffice versions it worked fine
Comment 11 genaro 2014-03-15 19:01:03 UTC
The reset user didn't work to solve this
Comment 12 Julien Nabet 2014-03-15 19:18:10 UTC
Thank you for your feedback. Since I don't have more question, I put it back to UNCONFIRMED.
Comment 13 genaro 2014-03-15 21:09:13 UTC
This error is for older files you have, if you create a new file there are no error on it. I realized that. Check the last attachment with an example and read the instructions about.
Comment 14 Julien Nabet 2014-03-15 21:42:04 UTC
I opened the file and the cell was with Arial font.
But when I changed the font, saved in another file and reopened, it was ok.

WORKSFORME

Win 8.1, LO Version: 4.4.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 1f4d9846aeb40af1fbb0126f666766fe6c60d8ff
TinderBox: Win-x86@42, Branch:master, Time: 2014-08-12_23:04:05

Installed that font. opened example file (it is arial).
Set the fiel with text to that font vbNtcIPA
save ods file
reopen ods file

-> the text field is in vbNtcIPA

So this WORKSFORME in 4.4 and higher.
