Description AngelBlueSky 2014-05-09 07:05:18 UTC
I can work on word input field using openoffice via reflection, but I can't do the same with libreoffice, whenever I open a word document containing those text fields they become simple text!
LibreOffice_4.2.4

Similar question is:
FILESAVE as .docx: Date (fixed), Time (fixed) fields become static field name text

Thanks

Hi ABS,

thanks for writing..
However, I've an doc-tab-field-document here. Can open in 4.2.4.2 and use the fields. Save as .doc and use again. Same with .docx...

So .. :)

Pls provide sample document & better description.

Cheers,
Cor

I was about to report this yesterday, so thank you for reporting this. Microsoft Word 2007+ has three types of input fields - legacy, activeX and modern. LibO seems to only support the activeX type, which by double-clicking you can enter text in the field.

No it seems LibO does support the legacy input field, but doesnt do so in a good manager, which is why i've submitted bug 79435.

@AngelBlueSky: your asking about why your not able to access the text fields similar to the same methods used in OpenOffice, which i'd assume is related to differences in the API between the two office suites. I will try to get a developer to look into this issue for you. Please do not create additional bug reports like bug 78620 and bug 79401, as that will not mean that you would get an answer faster and will make additional work for individuals who are checking bug reports.

This is not a critical bug - critical means data loss/crashes/etc... this is just a normal bug. Marking accordingly. Please do not set to critical again. For more information feel free to email the QA list about priorities.
Comment 9 AngelBlueSky 2014-06-04 07:22:31 UTC
Thank s a lot, you've been very kind.
Was my bad marking as "critical", well in a way it is "critical to my software".
You are right, I use legacy input fields and LO doesn't recognize them correctly.
Tanks again.

Yeah can't edit it by right-clicking.
Does not appear as simple text, though (it has grey bg).

Dear AngelBlueSky,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat: https://web.libera.chat/?settings=#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team
