Description awjnorcott 2014-08-18 11:30:33 UTC
I upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 LTS to Ubuntu 14.02 LTS two days ago. The version of Libreoffice that was downloaded as part of the upgrade was 4.2.4.2 and new to me.

Since then I have been unable to open .xls files in Librecalc - it always defaults to libre writer. Even right clicking on the file and choosing 'Open with LibreCalc' produces the same result.

This is very inconvenient as the pre-upgrade version of Libre office caused no hassle at all.

Can anyone help?

Hi
I have been playing around and by opening the .xls file using the 'Text
CSV' file type I have been successful. Obviously the .xls file that I
have is not really a properly formatted .xls file.

Thank you for your help but my problem has been solved.

Do I need to tick any boxes to complete the process as far as you are
concerned?

Many thanks and sorry for the red herring.
