Create a new document in Writer, select the Verdana font, enter the text "AÄaäOÖoöUÜuüsß", save the document as RTF and open it with Microsoft Word 2010. The non-ASCII letters "ÄäÖöÜüß" are not in Verdana but in Liberation Serif (the default font).
Created attachment 108885 [details] test RTF file here's such a test file. I don't have MS Word to test it, however MS WordPad correctly shows the Verdana font.
Yes, MS WordPad shows the Verdana font in the attachment 108885 [details] correctly but MS Word 2010 shows the non-ASCII characters in Arial.
Not having Microsoft Word you could use Microsoft Word Viewer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Word_Viewer Open the RTF with MS Word Viewer copy the text and paste it into Writer. You will see different fonts used for ASCII and for non-ASCII characters.
(In reply to I.I. from comment #3) > .... > Open the RTF with MS Word Viewer copy the text and paste it into Writer. You > will see different fonts used for ASCII and for non-ASCII characters. Ok, this way it's reproducible under Win7x64 using LibO 4.3.2.2 I add rtf expert to CC list.

Not reproducible with LibreOffice 5.3.0.3 and Microsoft Word 2016 on Windows 10.
Reproducible with LibreOffice 5.0.4 and Microsoft Word 2016 on Windows 10; therefore the bug was not in Microsoft Word but in LibreOffice.
