popup received on crash

Attempt to open a pptx file on Win7 x64 machine, with 8Gb memory, I5 chip. Filed created by MS Powerpoint on a Vista x32 box. File is 137,500 KB, containing over 300 slides.

Crashes on opening with popup title "LibreOffice 4.2 - Fatal Error"
Text in popup:  "osl::Thread::create failed".

When clicking OK, the pop disappears, and programs abruptly shuts down.

On which precise LO version are you? Last one of 4.2 branch is 4.2.8
Do you reproduce this with last stable LO version 4.3.5?

popup i/o error msg  v 4.3.5

I removed v4.2.8 and installed 4.3.5. When I attempted to open the file, I now get a "general i/o error" popup. Unable to open the file

To check that the problem is not in the pptx file, I downloaded the
 Microsoft Powerpoint Viewer. The file opens
 fine with that program, and the slide-show works as expected.
