Description antony.gelberg 2015-01-02 16:20:00 UTC
Created attachment 111657 [details]
.ppt which doesn't import properly to LibreOffice

Tested this on 4.2.7.2 on Linux and 4.3.5.2 on Windows, same behaviour. Open up the attached .ppt in LibreOffice and the writing in the table is gibberish. Strangely, when I double-click on the table to edit it, the Hebrew text looks correct in the edit screen. However, when I go back to the document (even just pressing Esc so that my edits are discarded), there is more strange behaviour. The table changes position on the slide, and the fonts are now more like Hebrew (but utterly wrong in placing).

On the basis that most LO devs probably don't read Hebrew, I uploaded https://www.dropbox.com/s/ne0cqwbo1x5v5sr/correct-hebrew.png?dl=0, so you can see how it should look / how it looks when it's opened in PowerPoint.

Let me know if you need any more info to assist the fix. I guess this can affect anyone trying to import Hebrew .ppts to LO.

Thanks Roman, indeed the bug still occurs. NB I accidentally deleted the dropbox link to the correct display - if anyone ever works on this, let me know and I'll try to get another screenshot from someone who uses Windows (not me).

Still confirmed the wrong initial display and already in 3.3.0.

I created bug 127698 for the table position shifting issue.

Yes, please attach such a screenshot.

Btw., Roman, you changed summary to have "DOCX", but in keywords and Blocks we talk about DOC binary. How do you know it's DOCX?

Dear antony.gelberg,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
