Description Xavier 2015-01-08 00:42:27 UTC
Problem description:
Current versions don't allow to change the cursor shape and size. This cause problems with people having disabilities.
Also, text antialising should improve.

Steps to reproduce:
NONE. Just using the program.

Current behavior:
Cursor size and shape impossible to change. Just a single, thin, vertical line, not well sight for people having disabilities. Text antialisign should be improved, actually continue being sharp in the edges.

Expected behavior:
The cursor should be able to change in its size for vertical or horizontal shape, being able to configure its volume from a single vertical/horizontal line to a whole block. It should be possible to select several shapes and volumes.
Also, you should be able to configure the cursor color. This is very important for people having disabilities.
Also, you should be able to configure if the cursor will play a little sound when typing. This is also a great assistance for people with disabilities. You can select no sound, our type writer machine sound, or low beep sound. Line return, home and end, also should be able to play sounds if they are configured to, or just, having the normal behaviour, no sound.
This is very important for people with impaired vision, also for daltonics, and many other people with vision problems.
Text antialisign should be configurable to different levels, to allow smooth text shapes. It should be configurable from zero no antialising to 5 full antialising.

Thank you for your concern.
However, the cursor style configuration is the job of the operating system or desktop environment.
Here are instructions for Windows: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/208087-cursor-set-thickness-width.html
Typing sounds: https://www.grc.com/freeware/clickey.htm

Text antialiasing comes from the operating system level as well.

I will close this report.
