Already in 3.3.0. Ubuntu 14.10 64-bit LibreOffice 3.3.0 OOO330m19 (Build:6) tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4
After a bit of investigation about an option making the difference. The responsible is: Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice Calc/General - Use printer metrics for text formatting. with it enable works fine. When it is not activated, lets space for filter button. In my opinion not a bug. Please if you are not agree, reopen it.
