When you use the color background from the table toolbar, the color background doesn't fill completely the cell, the only way is to pass throw the menu Table>Proprieties>Background.

The button made a color paragraph background and not the color cell background.
There is already a button for the paragraph background in the sidebar but this one should be the cell background not the paragraph background because it's in the table toolbar.

On which LO version are you? (last stable one is 5.1.4).
On which env are you? (Windows, Linux, MacOs)

Yes 5.1.4 but the problem is on all version of LibreOffice and was in OpenOffice.org too.

I'm on Mac but I use Linux and Windows too. The problem is on all OS.

The button is to set background color for the paragraph. By design.
We've seen more reports of this in the past.

Maybe the tool tip should be adapted to "Paragraph back ground"
