Description Heiko Tietze 2016-09-02 10:05:53 UTC
This idea is an outcome from the survey about the future of Draw. With a geographic map like Google Maps or OpenStreetMaps (and various others), combined with algorithmic highlighting users could show data in respect to the location.

Probably the only feasible way to have meaningful "geographic" support would be to adopt some of OSGeo's: GDAL, OGR, and MetaCRS project libraries--and implement a *limited* set of spatial data formats--probably Esri Shapefile for vector and perhaps GeoTIFF for raster. Also perhaps incorporate Geospatial PDF for optional use in the pdfimport and export filter.

This has to be limited or will quickly get out of hand and not be maintainable.

Removing needsUXEval; the request is clear.
