Description Johnny_M 2016-09-04 23:02:06 UTC
The "Related Topics" section in LO help currently isn't localized.

Test procedure:
1. Go to https://help.libreoffice.org/Basic/Rnd_Function_Runtime or https://help.libreoffice.org/Basic/Libraries,_Modules_and_Dialogs
2. Switch to any other language at the top of the page

Expected results:
2. "Related Topics" at the bottom of the page appears in the respective language

Actual results:
2. "Related Topics" appears in English

-------------------------------

Notes:
* It doesn't seem to be possible to localize that section name. I haven't been able to find it neither in Pootle, nor searching for the string in the entire help repository. (The section is invoked in many help articles, while its name seems to be controlled in some place centrally.)

* This is about the "Related Topics" SECTION (<section id="relatedtopics">), not a VARIABLE. There are plenty of "Related Topics" variable occurrences, all of which seem to be localized.

* Section use examples in code:
** (line 69): https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/help/tree/source/text/sbasic/shared/03080301.xhp?h=libreoffice-5-2-1#n69
** (line 45): https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/help/tree/source/text/sbasic/shared/01020500.xhp?h=libreoffice-5-2-1#n45

Both topics are localized for DE so I guess this is a featuer request, to indicate (likely via color) which languages already have localization and for which languages a translation is still missing.

Clicking e.g. russian shows an english localisation.

Can a wiki wizard explain, how this could / should be dealt with? Dennis?

DE locale page with EN locale browser

Thanks for feedback!

I've checked the offline help of the LO 5.2.0 release for the DE locale and it's localized there. So that this seems to be a pure online Wiki issue.

It's not localized for me in the Wiki in the DE content locale - see attachment.

Other page parts are shown according to the browser locale (e.g. the left and the top menu as well as the "Contents" menu header) and don't change with content locale selection. "Related Topics", on the other hand, doesn't localize neither with browser, nor with selected content locale.

P.S.: That "Contents" heading should probably localize with the selected content locale like all the other section headings, instead of currently with the browser locale like the page menus. But that's a different story.

DE locale content with DE locale browser

As described above, same page with the DE locale browser.

Just wildly guessing: Could the "Related Topics" section invocation be as follows?:

- From: https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/help/tree/help3xsl/online_transform.xsl?h=libreoffice-5-2-1#n440

- To: https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/help/tree/source/text/shared/00/00000004.xhp?h=libreoffice-5-2-1#n38

The latter is localized in https://translations.documentfoundation.org/de/libo_help/translate/shared/#search=00000004.xhp&sfields=locations&unit=28676254

Maybe that localization is not considered by the Wiki? (If it's the correct one.)

meh, sadly confirmed.

the wiki content come from
https://help.libreoffice.org/WikiAction/edit/Template:RelatedTopics

as this template is not translated, it is always transcluded. :-(

Timar/Cloph: can we simply transclude {{RelatedTopics/langcode}} instead and create for every language a wiki-template?

Setting Assignee back to default. Please assign it back to yourself if you're

by using the new online help, this is resolved.
