Description JayBofMA 2016-09-07 20:20:51 UTC
I was attempting to change the font face in a range of cells over multiple columns and rows. Calc would hang with the selection still highlighted and the formatting applied.

OS: Ubuntu 16.04
Calc: Version: 5.1.4.2
      Build ID: 1:5.1.4-0ubuntu1
      CPU Threads: 4; OS Version: Linux 4.4; UI Render: default;
      Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8)

Is the hang reproducible, does it happen with any document with the same steps, or maybe only with a specific document?

Can you check step 3. in [1] to see if it could be related to graphics? (OpenGL)

Well after a little more testing it seems to be sporadic. I did see it consistently on the file that first frustrated me. This was a document generated by exporting data from an Oracle database to a spreadsheet in Excel 2003+ XLSX format. My attempts to reformat fonts to a consistent face and size were met with Calc hanging. After killing Calc, and recovering the file on restart, I was only able to change the font after several attempts.

So based on your questions, I first created a new spreadsheet from Calc directly. After one or two tries I was able to reproduce the issue, but only once. I had several rows in one column that were of a different font, and I was selecting everything and changing to a consistent font face. Again, after several tries, I was successful in all but one attempt. I was trying to rule out a document created by some external application.

Then I created a fresh spreadsheet from another Oracle query. And that was in the same Excel 2003+ XLSX format. was not able to experience the same problem there, however. Even after multiple attempts.

Help About displays "UI Render: default", so OpenGL is not a concern.

I d not know what else t do, other than cross fingers that it does not recur.
