Steps to reproduce: 1. Insert a header or footer via the Insert menu. 2. use control+Page-up and Control+Page-down to to move between the document area. 3. Assistive technology does not announce whether focus has landed on the header, the footer, or the main document area.
I hear 'Header 1 Header' when i jump to the header in Orca 3.20 and 'Header 1 Page Header Edit' in JAWS. Didnt hear anything in NVDA, so it is likely a bug with them. There wasnt any notification when returning to the document area, so i guess that is the only thing presently wrong. Though Orca did say "page down" when i pressed ctrl+pgdwn to exit the header. @stuart, @texou, @alex: Any thoughts on this? @am_dxer: Please indicate which version of LO, OS and screen reader you are using in your bug reports. :D
Dear all, I confirm the issue both on LibreOffice 4.2 and LibreOfficeDev 6.0 on Debian Jessie (8.9) with Orca 3.24. As stated by Yousuf Orca announces when I switch between the body to the header but when I switch from the body to the footer I hear nothing, and when I leave the header/footer Orca doesn't announce I come back to the document body. Best regards.

Hello, On LibreOffice 6.1.2.1 jumping from the footer and the main content doesn't announce where we are, the problem is not present for header. On version 6.0.6.2 header and footer are announced avec Ctrl+Page up/down.

I tested with Orca. In 6.0.0.3 and 6.1.0.3 and nothing is announced when switching to the footer, nor when switch from footer to header (or vice versa). However, body to header is announced. Version: 6.0.0.3 Build ID: 64a0f66915f38c6217de274f0aa8e15618924765 CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk2; Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); Calc: group However, in a recent trunk build, _and testing with a new document_[1] landing into the header or the footer in any way is announced to Orca. I get "Header 1 Header" and "Footer 1 Footer" respectively for page 1. Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: ff3fb42b48c70ba5788507a6177bf0a9f3b50fdb CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: en-AU (en_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded So remaining issue is indeed to announce the return to the body. [1]: I think this matters as the footer not being announced seems related to it not getting a "name" (?) when created with an older version of LO.
Hello, I can reproduce this issue in the latest stable version. Version: 24.8.2.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 0f794b6e29741098670a3b95d60478a65d05ef13 CPU threads: 8; OS: macOS 13.6.3; UI render: Skia/Metal; VCL: osx Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US Calc: threaded Adding my comment with the latest information and findings. Sincerely, Chika
