Description Jim W. 2016-10-03 21:20:48 UTC
I can't submit a screenshot and as much detail as I'd like because I de-installed LibreOffice 5 I was so upset about this bug and reverted to LibreOffice 4.3 on Ubuntu 16.04. Not sure what sub-version I was running, but it was the current from the Ubuntu 16.04 repository as of two weeks ago (09/15 2016).

I rely on Impress. Wasn't testing other LO applications. Problem experienced was that under View -> Toolbars I'd check "Text Formatting" but nothing would happen. I could not get standard Toolbar icons to appear above the editing window such as for font size, style and color, which I use heavily.

Only access to these icons was via one of several double right-arrow symbols toward the righthand side of the screen, Toolbar area at the top. Clicking one of those, I could see the Text Color and other such. BUT, when I'd click or double-click them, Nada! Nothing would happen. No dialogue, no opportunity to change the related item. This happened with all the icons in the double right-arrow dropdowns - nothing would happen if I would click, double-click or right-click. Just caused the dropdown list window to close!

I finally gave up and reverted to LibreOffice 4.3 installing it from a DEB file. Works fine, except I can't embed videos in my presentations - get an "format of the selected file is not supported" message.

Unconfirmed with v5.1.5.2 under ubuntu 16.04 x64.
Unconfirmed with v5.2.1.2 under ubuntu 16.04 x64.

Can you download the latest version from the LO site and report back ?!

Status NEEDINFO from comment #1.

You should also rename your LO user profile in ~/.config/libreoffice and try again.

Best regards. JBF
