Description Joerg 2016-11-13 13:52:56 UTC
Description:
The IANA list the mime type "image/x-wmf" as depreciated in favor of "image/wmf", see: https://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/media-types.xhtml#image

Steps to Reproduce:

The depreciated mime type "image/x-wmf" is used by LibreOffice for WMF files

Expected Results:
The mime type "image/wmf" should be used by LibreOffice for WMF files

Reproducible: Always

Sure... deprecated not broken/removed.

To start:
http://opengrok.libreoffice.org/search?q=%22image%2Fx-wmf%22&project=core&defs=&refs=&path=&hist=

Now I suppose it doesn't just need a pure replace since we want:
1) To be able to read file with the deprecated mimetype.
2) Creation of brand new files must have the last mimetype

Modification on existing files should have the mimetype changed in case of deprecated mimetype?
Comment 3 Joerg 2016-11-14 19:39:25 UTC
Since opengrok didn't report any entry for "image/wmf", the first step should be to support this mime type for reading as well as "image/x-wmf".
There are other tools that write ODF out there. It's unlikely, that new implementations would write the deprecated "image/x-wmf" mime type to their ODF files.

The deprecated mimetype is still written by Version:

The wrong mime-type is still written in Version: 7.1.0.0.alpha0+ (x64)
Build ID: 1e0cfd5662d95cea84e80e4fe10d52c3b1101ae6
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18362; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL

Opening file with image/wmf works.

The wrong mimetype is still written in Version: 7.4.0.0.alpha0+ (x64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 4ac9032163cf55c160145373e7c41741c9c339ca
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: de-DE (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL

The wrong string is in https://opengrok.libreoffice.org/xref/core/comphelper/source/misc/graphicmimetype.cxx
But it is not enough to change the string. Files with type image/x-wmf would not be read correctly then. The import needs to be adapted to replace the deprecated string with the correct one.

Perhaps doable as EasyHack?

Dear Joerg,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today, LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help - About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword
