the solutions listed i this link do nor work anymore. https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/13967/text-selection-box-color-in-writer/ In "Tools → Options → LibreOffice → View → Selection → ☑ Transparency the "Selection" choice is not there anymore... :(
This was removed from the configuration GUI [1] and resides in Expert Configuration. The keywords/properties are in org.openoffice.Office.Common Drawinglayer preference: TransparentSelection [true|false] TransparentSelectionPercent [0-100%] Set false and the font color and background will invert. TransparentSelectionPercent default is 75% =-ref-= [1] https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=0b0fb87fbac36ef9fbf3dfeac0f1372617f4b3e4

Deemed an unnecessary control to have in the GUI as it is trivial to change in Expert Configuration. This was removed 2015-08-11, and has been in effect since 5.0.0 release.

"deemed" such by somebody who thinks yours and my time can be wasted by forcing people who request it to ask for info via a bug report here? btw, do you guys know how many people have meanwhile given up on fixing this Transparency detail (and maybe gone back to MS word?) after failing to follow now-wrong instructions found on the web? these "advances" is what gives any package a bad name. The package should be self-contained and not force people into long email chains for the cat. to the very least you guys should add a list of previously available/now removed menu options and how to execute them now. before removing a menu chain you guys should always check if anybody in the web has asked to use the option or the specific menu chain.
Sorry. But again, it is invalid as a bug report. Nothing wrong with the code and the preferred handling from Expert Configuration is appropriately described. RESOVLVED INVALID
