Description Mark Roth 2016-11-26 02:20:34 UTC
Description:
I noticed a weird deal with 5.1.5.2 for Windows.

An install on one machine showed AutoCorrect under both Format and Tools, but on another machine it showed AutoCorrect only under Tools.

This afternoon I downloaded the installation file for 5.1.6.2 and used it to update LibreOffice on both machines in question. The weirdness continues. What's with that?

Both machines are running Win7Pro, though one is 32-bit and other is 64-bit. That surely doesn't make the difference, does it?

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click Format
2. Click Tools
3. Notice that AutoCorrect shows up in both on one machine but only in Tools on the other

Actual Results:
AutoCorrect shows up under Format and Tools on one machine, but only under Tools on the other machine.

Expected Results:
AutoCorrect should show up consistently between the two installations.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:49.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/49.0

Can you try with a fresh profile on each? I suspect this is a personal user profile issue as it's literally impossible that a fresh (no user profile involved) install will have two different setups.

But FWIW - if you have one 32 bit and one 64 bit it's a bit misleading to say "same download" as I suspect you have the 32 and 64 bit versions installed?

Please try with fresh profiles and report back.

Thank you, Joel, for your quick input.

I'll see what a fresh profile on each will do.

Meanwhile, I assure you I'm entirely truthful when I say "same download." I downloaded the installation file onto the 64-bit machine and did the update. Then I copied that very same file over to my 32-bit machine and did the update.

If LO detects the "bittage" of the machine and adjusts its installation accordingly (even though the install file is the same), that's something I'm too ignorant to know about. :)

Anyway, I'll check into the fresh profile stuff and report back. Thank you again.

Ok, let's set status to NEEDINFO waiting for user feedback.
if issue persists, please set it back to unconfirmed and post some screenshot.
consider also upgrading to LibO 5.1.6.2 or 5.2.3.3

As directed in green at the right, I have changed the status back to UNCONFIRMED.

Here's what I did to get rid of the old Menu bar which didn't update when I updated from 5.0.x.x to 5.1.5.2, and from 5.1.5.2 to 5.1.6.2:

1. I renamed user to user-old

2. I opened Writer and saw that the Menu bar issue had been resolved.

3. All my personalizations had been lost. I closed Writer.

4. In the new user, I renamed renamed registrymodifications.xcu to registrymodifications.xcu-new.

5. I copied registrymodifications.xcu from user-old to user.

6. I opened Writer. Menu bar still up to date. Personalizations restored.

Wonderful!

Thank again, Joel, for your help.

Is this a process that I need to go through every time I update LO? If so, that definitely seems a bug to me.

Let's close as WFM.
