Description: Opening help from Help menu in Start Center crashes LO. First a pop up window appears: title: LibreOfficeDev 5.3 - Fatal Error text: Given module is not a frame nor a window, controller or model. buttons: OK Then LO crashes. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open LO 5.3b2 or LO 5.3RC1 2. Go to Help - LibreOffice Help (with help installed) 3. Press OK in the error pop-up window Actual Results: LO crashed. Expected Results: Some default help page should show up. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: This is bug one. But there should probably be another bug report for this, as the error window is not localizable (running LO with 100 % localized UI and help in Slovenian it appears in English). Most probably on OSX only, marking it as such.

I reported it for 5.3b2 and 5.3rc1, not for master.
Hi miles and yet testing those versions is totally legit, no? I can't find 5.3 RC1 on the LO website. Could you post a link? Asked in QA IRC why 5.3 RC where not listed and found: http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/mac/x86_64/ Tested 5.3 RC1 Version: 5.3.0.1 Build ID: 3b800451b1d0c48045de03b5b3c7bbbac87f20d9 CPU Threads: 4; OS Version: Mac OS X 10.12.2; UI Render: default; Layout Engine: new; Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group With 5.3RC1 the crash is reproduced. Help opens fine, but LO crashes and shows the document recovery dialog. Setting to NEW + adding regression keyword.

With the app running no window opened, so with the menu consisting of only the application and the file menus, LO will crash when try trying to start a new document from a template. syslog shows: Feb 20 12:47:58 boekje-5 soffice[44578]: assertion failed: 16D32: libxpc.dylib + 74307 [65E41BB6-EBD5-3D93-B0BE-B190CEE4DD93]: 0x89
It happens to me as well, and I have to remark that CMD+O should be the shortcut to Open a file, but it causes the crash too. So there could be a mistake on the shortcut (leading to Help instead of Opening file) or the file opening crashes too. Versione: 5.3.3.2 Build ID: 3d9a8b4b4e538a85e0782bd6c2d430bafe583448 Thread CPU: 4; Versione SO: Mac OS X 10.8.5; Resa interfaccia: GL; Motore layout: nuovo; Versione locale: it-IT (it.UTF-8); Calc: group Moreover, I tried to get this data (LO Version) from the Start Center and it didn't work too. I had to open Writer to have such a dialog. The result in this case is just nothing: when hitting on "Info on LibreOffice" from "LibreOffice" menu bithing happens. The same with LO started with no window shown (as known, it's a MacOs peculiarity to have apps open with no existing windows). Should I open a different Bug for this? Finally I can confirm also the crash when trying to start a new document from a template, in no window shown mode. I hope those info may help to fix this awful crash.
CMD+O is not a misleading shortcut (accelerator): invoking Open from File menu crashes as well :(
