Description Edward Ahlsen-Girard 2016-12-31 00:37:43 UTC
Description:
If LibreOffice is opened from the command line or from the cwm start menu, it displays a dialog box to the effect that due to an unexpected error, LibreOffice crashed, that documents that had been open will be recovered. In the case when there had not be a real crash, the are no files in the list to choose recovery for. Closing the dialog box ends the program. If the command line is used, this error appears in the terminal window:
Warning: failed to launch javaldx - java may not function correctly

A dmesg (sanitized) is included.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run soffice without a filename as an argument.
2. Wait.
3. It will come

Actual Results:
Crashes: can only be run by opening a document

Expected Results:
crashed, had to open a document

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Comment 2 Buovjaga 2017-01-03 19:58:52 UTC
I got some feedback from #openbsd IRC channel @ Freenode:
is that related to wxallowed? https://www.openbsd.org/faq/upgrade60.html

Edward: can you check if that change to wxallowed mount option is the cause?

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if not. Change to RESOLVED NOTABUG, if you solved it.
Comment 3 Buovjaga 2017-01-03 20:06:15 UTC
Apparently it can't be because of wxallowed because dmesg after crash should show if it's a w^x violation. Additionally, output of mount should show if wxallowed is present.

A further advice was given: update to the latest snapshot, and package, pkg_add -u
Comment 4 Edward Ahlsen-Girard 2017-01-04 02:57:26 UTC
I'll try the new snapshot and get back.

The notion that wxallowed mount is required is surprising, since there is no error if a file is passed as a startup argument: why would that just that one code path in the whole application be the problem?
Comment 5 Edward Ahlsen-Girard 2017-01-04 02:58:52 UTC
In any event, /usr/local is mounted wxallowed.
Comment 6 Edward Ahlsen-Girard 2017-01-04 11:10:18 UTC
New snao and pkg_add -u, no change.
Comment 7 Buovjaga 2017-01-05 11:44:02 UTC
Ok, maybe you could try seeking for testers on #openbsd @ Freenode or some other gathering-place of OpenBSD folks.
I don't have time to install OpenBSD in a VM right now to test this..
Comment 8 Edward Ahlsen-Girard 2017-01-05 12:34:05 UTC
Thanks, I'm inquiring elsewhere.

Comment 11 Edward Ahlsen-Girard 2017-07-29 16:06:12 UTC
The crash continues to occur, but inconsistently. I have not determined what condition or previous event induces it. It can be corrected by deleting the user profile, but it keeps coming back after anywhere from a day to a few weeks.

I've got a script to clear the profile and put my own templates back, but that leaves the problem in place.
Comment 12 Buovjaga 2017-07-30 08:51:29 UTC
If you could do your own build with --enable-symbols, you could get a backtrace of the crash.
Comment 13 Xisco Faulí 2017-11-20 16:25:51 UTC
(In reply to Buovjaga from comment #12)
> If you could do your own build with --enable-symbols, you could get a

Dear Reporter,
Any chance you could build LibreOffice as mentioned by buovjaga?
Comment 14 Edward Ahlsen-Girard 2017-11-21 11:37:53 UTC
Has not occurred in several months. Fix is probably in the updated packages for LibreOffice that the OpenBSD project provides.

Regarding the build request, the crash behavior has not occurred in a couple of months or so. If it recurs I will build from the package source with symbols and get back.
Comment 15 Buovjaga 2017-11-21 11:51:41 UTC
Ok, let's close for now and revisit, if the horror returns.
