Description Tales Tomaz 2017-01-06 13:55:32 UTC
Description:
When I format a document to use alternating page styles on Odd and Even pages and save it as DOC, it looses formatting and gets really messed up.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Save any file with several pages as *.DOC, close it and open it again;
2. Choose "View - Styles and Formatting", and then click the "Page Styles" icon;
3. Right click "Default" and choose "Modify";
4. Click the "Organizer" tab;
5. Select "Left Page" in the "Next Style" box, and then click "OK";
6. In the list of page styles, right-click "Left Page" and choose "Modify";
7. Click the "Page" tab;
8. Change the margins (e.g. 5 cm right) and then click "OK";
9. Do the same to the "Right Page" style, but with inversed margins (e.g. 5 cm left);
10. Save the file, close it and open it again.

Actual Results:
Document looses its actual formatting; several pages turn out to be "sections" with page breaks, messing everything up. Pages do not exhibit anymore the same patter of margins as established before and loose completely the alternating page styles on Odd and Even pages

Expected Results:
Keeping the same alternating page styles on Odd and Even pages without creating "sections", which will disturb further working on the document.

Reproducible: Always

Repro when saving as DOC.

In 3.6, the styles are simply ignored.

This is a limitation in .doc. I asked in the dev chat and got a reply:
".doc doesn't have named sections, just section breaks. so it is reasonable to convert that to "ConvertedN" page styles. given infinite time, some mechanism could be added to prevent duplicate page styles, though."
