Description: Calc needs an actually working mailto handler similar to what Excel has had for 20 years Steps to Reproduce: 1.Calc needs: 1) ability to set default email program, NOT fail to browser 2) ENTER on an email address to open the email program with that address entered as the destination address, like Excel has done for 20 years. 3) Even a hotkey, like CTRL M, for that would work. NOT like the silly stuff at CTRL K. Actual Results: Put a bunch of email addresses into cells in one column. Pretend you were in Excel and hit ENTER on one of them and expect it to open your email program, with that address filled into the TO field. Cuss and experiment for an hour, then file a suggestion like this. Expected Results: It becomes an advertisement for Excel. Calc can not do anything with mailto Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Nothing to do with profile Additional Info: Nothing to do with profile. Forces me to use Excel. User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/55.0.2883.87 Safari/537.36
It works for me, with Thunderbird as default email program on windows 10. If I enter somethink like: mailto:a@a.com in a cell, change to a link format. And with [Ctrl+click] the email program is open with the address on To: so neither a bug a need for enhancement.
Does not work with Eudora. Might work with TB and Microsoft Office email programs, but not with Eudora. CTRL Click on a mailto just opens Chrome. CALC needs a method for setting the default email program to be used with CALC. You can't expect companies to change their email programs and 25 years of accounting mails because CALC does not have a way to deal with Eudora. Look at how, for example, Mailwasher, deals with correctly calling Eudora. You simply set the default email program, even if Windoze blocks setting that into the Registry.
Just have a quick look how Excel has handled that for the last 20+ years.
First I don't expect anything, I'm a volunteer helping on the QA. If you can, change your tone could be a better beginning. Plus I don't care about excel, on 35 years working with spreadsheets I never use it. I have had the patience of install Eudora 8.0b9, which set up itself as default mail on my Win10. Ctrl-Clicking on a mail address within calc opens a new mail in Eudora with such address on To: It works for me without change anything on LibreOffice, so maybe you have a mess on your system configuration.

The link to mail probably works OK with TB or other new programs. I was referring to legacy programs like Eudora prior to version 8.
According to the wikipedia [1], Eudora is no longer under development. I'm sorry, but we're not going to work on this. Closing as RESOLVED WONTFIX [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eudora_(email_client)
