screenshot of problem

See the screenshots that show the issue.
Menus that fall below the spreadsheet are left on screen. A right click on the desktop and selection of "Refresh" removes them. They also disappear if they fall over a desktop shourtcut and the cursor moves over the shortcut.

It simply looks sloppy.

OK, did that, same problem with new profile.
New screenshots show the residual portion of Data Menu and the Sort Criteria left when the Sort had completed.

When getting the first screen shot, the spreadsheet overlayed the right side of this page and didn't go away when I closed the sheet, that's a new one I hadn't seen before.

I cannot reproduce any of this.
How exactly is it happening? Open the context menu, click outside of it and then you are seeing the residual crap outside the LibreOffice window? Or are you somehow able to close the spreadsheet while the context menu is open?

If I click the close button, it simply closes the context menu and doesn't even try to close LibreOffice.

Please also copy & paste here the contents of your Help - About window. Just want to check, if you have OpenGL rendering enabled.

Test 2 with screenshots:
01) Open an ods file plus create a writer file to document this test
02) menu > Data > Sort window opens, drop down outside of ods remains
03) click OK, sort window and drop down disappear
04a) click on cell, choose Copy, portion of drop down remains
04a) click on cell, choose Paste, portion of drop down remains, slightly different than Copy
04b) close ods, portion of drop down remains (disappears after taking screen shot)
05a) note that when Copying the text "- click on cell, choose " in THIS document that a portion of it's drop down list remains so it isn't just Calc that has the problem.
06) LO Help > About as requested

plus I attached the spreadsheet "Batteries - charging.."

Ok you have OpenGL enabled. What happens, if you disable it and restart LibO: Tools - Options - LibreOffice - View - Use OpenGL for all rendering

It becomes intolerable due to unbelievable rendering problems.

However the portions of the drop down lists are cleaned up properly.

If I have to choose, I choose good rendering with some sloppy handling when cleaning drop down lists.

By the way, my nVidia driver pack is 376.19.0.0 w764bit which you apparently 'support' (i.e. you don't blacklist it).

check the screenshot 05 which shows left over portions of the Logo and includes a portion of this post.

Ok, the non-OGL rendering problems are weird and unfortunate.

You could also copy and paste to a comment the contents of your C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\cache\opengl_device.log

I just bought this card($197.74CAD)in the hopes that it would have 'up-to-date' drivers which would eliminate the rendering issues, and it does when OpenGL is enabled, but then has the problem with left over remnants of drop down lists.

With OGL disabled, the rendering is so bad that I can't possibly use LO. When I first clicked on what I saw as the cell with "13:49" a cell with a "3" appeared for editing/copying etc. so the cursor wasn't associated with what I saw. I realized this and clicked, not over the "13:49" but further to the right, I got a cell with "13:49" to edit/copy, etc. No one could work with that problem.

this has been 'fixed' in 5.3.6.1 or possibly before, anyway, it doesn't happen now.
