Created attachment 130935 [details] help_about.png Hi, on Windows 7 Help | About LibreOffice there is still "Copyright 2000-2016" it should probably be "2000-2017". Version 5.2.5.1 was released in 2017. See attachment. P.S. I am marking bug as trivial, but it would be nice this is fixed. Probably bug could be marked as easy fix. Regards
Confirmed. Working on it...
it can't be cherry-picked to 5-2 branch. Comment from https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/32598/ Patch Set 1: Code-Review-1 String change in frozen release branch. -1 Copyright in the work expires 70 years after the death of the author. Closing as RESOLVED WONTFIX
Yeah, I changed only for 5.3 and master, since the string change was deemed too invasive for backporting to 5.2. Each change like this requires work from the translation teams, and some of them have insufficient manpower.
@Adolfo, thanks for fixing 5.3+ I do understand this bug is trivial importance, so I have marked it that way when I reported it, but if only changing the number how can this affect the words to be translated? It looks to me whole strings (multiple words combined into one translation unit) are valid or invalid. Probably the problem should be solved in some other way, you know saving the translations, updating the number and restoring translation with new number. I do understand this is way too much hassle for such a tiny problem, but generally speaking (for some other way more important problem), there in my humble opinion should be some system to minimize translation effort, you know just changing number without an effect on translations itself.
Yeah, perhaps we should have LO display its compilation year and have a string with a variable, like “Copyright %YEAR”, which wouldn’t need manual retranslation each year. Please file a new bug about it. :)
