Description Sebastian Jentschke 2017-02-13 21:14:32 UTC
I am (desperately) trying to embed two sound files on one Impress slide. Expected behaviour is that the file starts when it is clicked.
However, there is no way to do so.

What I tried:

[1] Insert -> Audio or Video (first file starts automatically, second file is not played when clicked on)

[2] Create an graphic object (box), right click -> Interaction - Play sound (does not work, goes onwards to the next slide when in Presentation mode; strangely, when not in Presentation mode, it works)

I tried all that you said and I don't have the problems.

You did not mention your operating system.

Impress file with sound

The attached Impress file shows (on my computer) the behaviour I regard as bug (i.e., when the presentation mode is started the sound file starts immediately while click-to-start would be the expected behaviour).

The system is:
Ubuntu Linux 17.10 64-bit, Gnome 3.26
LO-Version: 5.4.1.2
Build-ID: 1:5.4.1-0ubuntu1
CPU-Threads: 4; Betriebssystem:Linux 4.13; UI-Render: Standard; VCL: gtk3;

You can't confirm your own bugs. Moving it back to UNCONFIRMED until someone else confirms it.

Ok, I might have been somehow confused in my comment 1 regarding the first case. I realized it really is not possible when you have a media file directly embedded. It only works with some graphical object + interaction. https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/4611/is-it-possible-to-play-a-video-on-click-in-an-impress-slideshow/

Sebastian: do you still have a problem with the object interaction?

It still doesn't work, the solution listed on https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/4611/is-it-possible-to-play-a-video-on-click-in-an-impress-slideshow/ works partially: If there is only one sound / video file, it is working, with more than one it doesn't.

Even though I can't hear any sound playing, it seems to work in principle.

I believe, the problem is (kind of) solved.

Thank you!

The content of attachment 142112 [details] has been deleted for the following reason:

Mistake, no sounds were embedded
Comment 17 Buovjaga 2018-05-15 18:15:49 UTC
Argh, I realised that no audio files are embedded into the file, if we use the "Interaction - Play sound". They are always pointing to file paths in the system.

This is really kind of a mess. I tried the Media player method mentioned here, but it crashed when I closed the media player: https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/83486/impress-how-play-embedded-audio-automatically/

I have to discuss with someone about this.

I file bug 117628 for the crash, it only affects kde4 and gen VCL backends.

Now I found this old report, which I've even set a bug bounty on: bug 34940
It would allow to have click interactions with *embedded* media, so we would not have to rely on *linked* media.
