Description: Only when having one document opened via fime manager the doc, title is displayed in title bar. As far as doc is opened directly from LO or if more than one doc is open, title bar is empty and does not display any file name. Makes work a bit difficult when several docs (e.g. all LO Writer) are open and I have to switch between them. Steps to Reproduce: 1. just open LO and afterwards one, two, etc. files Actual Results: nothing displayed on top Expected Results: expected to get the file names displayed on top to see what doc is open in the actual window Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:51.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/51.0

it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice. Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ? I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.
I updated the version of Libre Office. On the first started window respectively document the doc name is not displayed in the title bar which stays completely empty. Opening a second document / window: title bar shows document name, third one as well.

When you say the first time, you mean everytime you launch LibreOffice after restarting the PC, or the first time after resetting the profile?
Hello Stephan, *, thank you very much for reporting this bug :) I cannot - however - reproduce this bug, sorry ... :( Would you be so kind to answer V Stuart's question about your desktop environment from comment 1, please? I have tested it with OS: Debian Testing AMD64 DE: XFCE 4.12 LO: Version: 5.1.6.2 Build-ID: 07ac168c60a517dba0f0d7bc7540f5afa45f0909 CPU-Threads: 4; BS-Version: Linux 4.5; UI-Render: Standard; Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group LO: Version: 5.2.6.1 Build-ID: e37e437cb0cfa0eab9d2e98a23f5074ae118d3df CPU-Threads: 4; BS-Version: Linux 4.5; UI-Render: Standard; VCL: gtk2; Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group and LO: Version: 5.3.1.1 Build ID: 72fee18f394a980128dc111963f2eefb05998eeb CPU Threads: 4; OS Version: Linux 4.5; UI Render: default; VCL: gtk2; Layout Engine: new; Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group HTH Thomas.

E.g. laptop is running since hours, LO was in use and quit again, if then from file manager or command Open... within LO after restart of LO only: from second window onwards the document name is not shown. Hope this new germish description is more useful?
Created attachment 131603 [details] screenshot of 2 LO windows afer restart of computer; opened via double click in file manager: title bar empty Here a screen shot of what I mean. Computer was restarted, 2 documents are opened via file manager. After start-up of LO both title bars are empty - so I could not see which window consists of which document.

After > start-up of LO both title bars are empty - so I could not see which window > consists of which document. You can solve this by installing some needed packages. From the command line: sudo apt-get install libreoffice-style-tango libreoffice-gtk libreoffice-gtk3 Closing.
Created attachment 131640 [details] after installing libreoffice-style-tango libreoffice-gtk libreoffice-gtk3 title bar still not displaying document names After the installation of a.m. packages acc. to comment #9 the title bar remains still empty in 2 of 3 cases. This time LO was started and automatically rebuilt the 3 documents but only displays one document name in the title bar... Unfortunately But thanks to Buovjaga for the help (trial).
Stephan: check the answer to this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/781222/libreoffice-document-name-in-title-bar
(In reply to Buovjaga from comment #11) > Stephan: check the answer to this: > http://askubuntu.com/questions/781222/libreoffice-document-name-in-title-bar thanks, but this is definitely NOT what I am looking for. will create a new screenshot / pic of what I mean. I'm not after the menu and where it is displayed - it is the name of the document.odt, which was up to now shown in the title bar of LO Writer window, see attachment
Created attachment 131674 [details] 1 of 3 doc names not shown in this case, last session 0 of 3 names in title bar up to now in each and every open window the name of the doc was displayed in the top of the LO Writer window (not the menu), this does not work properly as here in this case 2 of 3 doc names are shown, 3rd title bar is empty and does not mention the doc name (.odt) or anything else - just empty...
Ubuntu 16.04, LO 5.4.2.2: According to Help, "the Status Bar contains information about the current document". However, it does not even show the name of the document (instead, it shows it in the navigator), although there would be ample space for the file name. Please show it in leftmost position in the status bar. I suggest this as an alternative to Stephan's request to show it in the top bar, where it would be hard to fit in.

Could you please explain the steps to reproduce it? If I open 3 files, I can see the three names.
